Swim Meets

As members of the Alberta Summer Swimming Association (ASSA), the club attends 7–8 swim meets each season. While medals and ribbons are awarded by age group, the primary focus is on swimmers achieving their personal best times.

Meet Requirements

Each swimmer must attend:

  1. The Home Meet
  2. One Invitational Meet
  3. Regionals

Because the club pays fees for every swimmer entered, meet registration is a firm commitment. Missing a meet—especially a relay event—can impact the entire team, as a relay is disqualified if a swimmer does not show up.

Team Suit Requirement

ASSA requires all swimmers to wear the official team suit at meets.

Meet Schedule & Expectations

  • Most meets are held on Saturdays; some include Friday evening events.
  • Swimmers must be on deck for warm-up by 7:00–7:30am.
  • Meets can run until 5:00pm.
  • While there may be downtime, this is valuable for team bonding and rest.
  • Swimmers may enter up to 4 individual events and 2 relays, though events offered vary by meet.

Regionals

  • Regionals is a required meet.
  • To compete at Regionals, swimmers must have attended at least one previous meet to establish official times.

If your swimmer is not interested in attending provincials if they qualify, please do not sign up for relays at Regionals. In order to attend Regionals, the swimmer must have attended a previous swim meet to have recorded swim times.
