    Fundraising Policy

Registration fees do not cover the entire budget for operating the swim club. Fundraising is necessary to keep registration fees from increasing. Club expenses include pool rental fees, swim meet fees, coaching and swimmer registration fees with the ASSA/Swim Alberta. The Club budgets such that our Casino (once every 3 years) covers much of our fundraising requirements, but not all.

minimum commitment of $100.00 PER SWIMMER must be raised as part of your team fundraising commitment. Funds can be earned through numerous fundraisers available to you. Any amount over the required 100.00 will be given back to you as a credit (minimum of $20 credit to trigger the refund). Participation at our spring bottle drive will count as $50.00 credit per swimmer that participates. If your fundraising commitment is not met your fundraising bond will be kept or your bond cheque cashed. A partial refund may be available upon consideration of the board.

    Officiating

Some volunteer positions such as runner, marshall, and chaperone do not require training. All other positions require a clinic (online or in person). Level 1 (timers/marshalling) is the entry point for all new officials. For more information about officiating please reach out to [email protected]

You can find Swim Alberta's Officials Clinics here. Officials Clinics

Your Volunteer Coordinator will send out an email regarding volunteer positions about 2 weeks before each meet. Sign up for officiating at swim meets occurs on the Cochrane Piranhas Webpage under the Events Tab. When officiating attendance is required at the officials meeting which usually occurs 30-45minutes before the first race. You will usually be provided with food and drinks before, during or after your volunteer shift. It is also a great way to meet parents from other clubs and to enjoy the races up-close. Volunteering as an Official counts toward the required Volunteer Commitment for the swim season.
