Hello Piranhas,

We are excited to be hosting a Mini Distance Meet for our swimmers! This is a great opportunity for swimmers to race a distance event and record an official time that can be submitted to ASSA.

Event Details

• Date: Wednesday, July 8th, 2026
• Time: 6:00–8:00 p.m.
• During: Regular Yellow, Orange, and Black practice times
• Who: Black, Orange, Silver, and some of the Yellow Group

Each swimmer will compete in one of the following freestyle events in this order:

• 200 m Freestyle
• 400 m Freestyle
• 800 m Freestyle
• 1500 m Freestyle

Coaches will determine which event each swimmer will race.

To help us plan the evening, please RSVP if your swimmer will be attending so that we know how many swimmers to expect. Swimmers will be expected to be on deck during the entirety of the two hours, but they are welcome to leave after they've swum their one event. However, we will need swimmers to help with the lap count for the 800m and the 1500m. 

We are also looking for parent volunteers to help time the races. No previous experience is necessary—we will provide instructions before the mini meet begins.

We will need:

• 10 timers from 6:00–7:00 p.m.
• 8 timers from 7:00–8:00 p.m.

If you are available to volunteer for both hours, please sign up for both time slots.

Thank you for helping make this event possible! We look forward to a fun evening of racing and giving our swimmers the opportunity to earn official distance times. This will greatly help with our swimmers reaching their Iron Swimmer goal of swimming all events swimmers are allowed!

The Red group's practice will go forward as normal, and for the few Yellow swimmers who will not be participating, your practice will now be from 5:00-6:00 pm on July 8th. Coach Katelynne will reach out with more specifics soon!
