TIME SENSITIVE: Regional individual and relay entries. Please review by July 30th
Hello piranhas families,
We have an incredible 55 swimmers attending our region E championships August 9th and 10th and we are so excited!!
I have attached the individual entries as well as the relay entries. They are also available on swimtopia under the Regionals event page.
Please review carefully to ensure that the events are correct for your swimmer (we can only make changes until Tuesday night as we have to submit entries on Wednesday and no changes are allowed after that). We are happy to make changes for swimmers if they would like to swim different events. To make a change, please email your swimmer's coach and let them know what changes you would like made. To be clear, you must email a coach by tomorrow night (Tuesday) in order for us to have time make the changes to our entry file and submit to meet management.
The relay teams are also attached. Again, please review carefully. If your swimmer's name is on a relay that is NOT highlighted, it means we believe you have committed to attending provincials for these relays IF they qualify at the region E championships. If things have changed and you are no longer willing to go to provincials, please let us know ASAP. Any team that qualifies at regionals cannot have athlete substitutions. The entire relay will end up having to be scratched if someone changes their mind about attending provincials after qualifying at regionals, and we don't want any disappointed swimmers.
For any changes:
Black swimmers, contact Coach Amy ([email protected])
Orange swimmers, contact Coach Eli S ([email protected])
Silver and Yellow swimmers, contact Coach Max ([email protected])
Red swimmers contact Coach Sydney ([email protected])
At provincials, the Medley Relay will be on Friday August 16th around 3 pm (this is not confirmed, it could be a bit later but I don't imagine it will be any earlier than that).
The Free Relay will be on Saturday August 17th at the end of the afternoon session (perhaps around 3 pm, but again not confirmed).
For those that are new to summer swimming, qualification for provincials is based on standings at regionals. The top 2 in all events (top 1 for 800/1500) are guaranteed a lane at provincials. There are then 4 wildcard spots (2 for 800/1500) that are available throughout the province based on time; so it is not just the top 2 swimmers that can get a lane at provincials.
All events up to 200m are swam as heats and finals; so swimmers will compete in the morning and then the top 8 swimmers will get another chance to swim in finals in the afternoon. Events 400m and longer as well as all the relays are swum as "Time Finals" ... meaning they are only swum once.
Relays are in the afternoon session at the conclusion of the individual events each day. and there is at least a 90 minute break between the end of the morning session and the start of the afternoon session.
We have been working hard all season for this championship and we are excited to see the fruits of the labour of all of the swimmers.
Go Piranhas!
