Piranhas - Information about Home Meet, Hospitality, 50/50 and Casino Signups

Great job at the Triton’s meet Piranhas! Now we are shifting focus to our home meet this coming Saturday. For those of you that don't know, Lisa Preston is our home Meet Manager again this year. She has been working very hard behind the scenes to get everything ready for this weekend!

Please read below for information about our home meet hospitality, raffle and casino signups.

Home Meet Hospitality

Our hospitality committee (Jody Szkorupa, Mayra Regan, Sengda Sophasth and Cindy Yorke) has been doing great prep work getting ready to serve some delicious food to our volunteers at our home meet. We have added a signup sheet to our website’s event’s page that has a number of items that they need to help make it a success. They are asking for some homemade baked goods (muffins, cookies, banana bread) as well as some household items (crockpots, coolers with ice, serving bowls, and beverage dispensers). Please signup to help out if you can!

Set Up Friday 7-9pm

There will be some prep work done by the hospitality crew and some on-deck setup happening after our practices on Friday from 7-9pm. If you are around and would like to help out please that would be great.

50/50

We have started an online 50/50 for our home meet and ticket sales are now live! We are encouraging our families to get their tickets early to help get the prize growing. Feel free to share on social media - anyone that is a resident of Alberta can buy tickets.

Silent Auction

Thank you to those that have offered to donate silent auction items! There is still time to donate something if you would like. Just reach out to your raffle committee if you have any questions (Lacy Moulder, Claire Breeze, or Pam Moores). Chantel Josiak and I can also be contacted for any questions about either committees.

Casino Signup

Thank you to everyone that has signed up for casino shifts. Any family with 2 or more swimmers can now sign up for a second casino shift. The same person can work a shift on the same day, however, they must work in the same position on both days. For example, if you were a cashier on Wednesday then you must be a cashier on Thursday. If a different member of your family is signing up it doesn’t need to be in the same position.

A few more things:

  • Working the casino isn’t mandatory volunteering and it won’t count towards your volunteering obligation for 2023 or 2024. This is just an extra opportunity where you can earn some cash to help offset registration costs in 2024.
  • After July 20th anyone can take extra shifts to try to fill all the remaining positions. I won't send out another email about the casino until August so go ahead and signup up as much as you want after that date.
  • Other people can also work the shifts on your behalf (grandparents, friends etc.) and you will still receive the registration credits.
  • If you sign up for a backup position you won’t receive registration credits unless end up working a shift.

Thanks,

Kendra
