Piranhas 2023 season starts tomorrow!

Hello Piranhas!

Hard to believe that another season is upon us.

I know e-mail fatigue is real, but we really don’t have any better way of communicating with you. Rather than many shorter emails we will generally try to consolidate information like below. Club emails are also published as stories on the website’s News feed, so it’s a good idea to check that regularly to ensure you haven’t missed anything.

Practice

  • Check the Swim Groups to make sure you know which group your swimmer is in.
  • Check the Practice Schedule.
  • Don’t come on deck any earlier than 5 minutes before practice starts.
  • When you go to the pool you just need to tell the people at the desk you are there for swim practice. As the season wears on and they get to know you (and if you have Piranhas gear) they’ll start just waving you through.

Hot tub

  • Hot tub use after practice is not part of our agreement with the pool.
  • If your swimmer wants to use the hot tub please scan your membership (or buy a pass) before practice.

Fundraising

  • Thai Manna fundraiser starts May 1st. All details are under the fundraising tab on the website.
  • Our traditional May bottle drive will be May 13 in Heritage Hills followed by a BBQ at Riverside park. Sign up will be on Swimtopia with more details closer to the date.

Apparel

  • All suits and equipment will be available for pick up at TriHub this week.
  • Team caps will be handed out by coaches; replacement caps will be available at a cost of $10.
  • We ask that you reserve your team suit and cap for use at swim meets only. However, if you find that your swimmer’s suit is a bit snug, please have them wear it to a few practices as this will relax the fabric.
  • TriHub has extra Piranhas microfiber towels available for $18.

Head to Head

  • Head to Head is an organization that connects Olympians with local sports clubs.
  • Two-time Olympic swimmer Yuri Kisil will be our Olympian.
  • Still working out the details, but it will be either May 19th or 26th (we’re hoping for the 26th).
  • Still working out details, but we’re thinking a one hour classroom session (open to all swimmers) followed by a pool session (or sessions) for older swimmers.
  • $25 fee for in-pool sessions. Spots will be limited.
  • More details come soon.

Well, I think that’s more than enough to get us started. I look forward to seeing you all poolside. If you are a new family and have questions just look for parents of older swimmers and ask them. They'll know the answer, or point you in the right direction.

Cheers,

James Lange

President, Cochrane Piranhas Summer Swim Club
