Calgary Tritons Invitational Swim Meet and General Information

Hi Everyone,

Just a couple of reminders as we near the end of the month. Firstly, a reminder thatThursday, June 30this the last day of the June schedule and that the July schedule starts onMonday, July 4th. We also ask that parents let their swimmers know that we have been asked not to enter the equipment storage room. The lifeguards will make sure the equipment is out and ready for us to use.

Secondly, a reminder that the sign-up for theCalgary Tritons Swim Meet(July 8-9th) will close tomorrowTuesday, June 28th, at 8pm. Please declare attendance for your swimmers for all sessions (Friday PM, Saturday AM/PM). The sign-up for volunteer shifts will also close at the same time.

I have attached the Calgary Tritons Swim Meet package for those who would like further information on the meet; however, below are a few highlights to keep note of:

They are still in need of some officials - especially stroke and turn, starter(s) and office. Please sign up if you haven't already.

Saturday afternoon: warm-up and start will be finalized based on time-out

Events

25m flutter (events 15 & 16) is listed in the entry file as 25m IM

Parking

MNP Rec Centre can be very busy AND it will be Stampede! Please plan to arrive early. Please obey all parking restrictions within the lot - every meet, the facility has to find the owner of a vehicle parked somewhere that is not a spot.

Food and Beverage

We are currently trying to have a break for lunch between Sessions 2 and 3. The facility has great snack and beverage options, but limited lunch options (Jugo Juice and Good Earth). Please plan accordingly.

Swimmer and Mess Management

Swimmers will be on-deck on cement bleachers or the side of the deck during the sessions. Please no camping equipment (tents/folding chairs). Extra towels or stadium seats are more appropriate. Food is allowed on deck, but is restricted to the team areas (e.g., The lifeguards hope not to see swimmers wandering around the pool deck leaving muffin crumb trails).

Swimmers/teams are responsible for maintaining and cleaning their area. The Tritons will be fined by the facility for excessive mess and that fine will pass onto the offending team. Parents should help their swimmers pack appropriately (e.g., spill resistant cups, food that does not crumble).

Parent-swimmer management

MNP is a beautiful and large facility. We do understand that especially for the young kids, parents may want to provide more active supervision. They simply can NOT allow parents/spectators on deck. They will have a gate attendant and will allow one parent to accompany very young (suggest ~7 and under) down to find their team for thefirst time only. After that, parents must immediately return to the stands and then make arrangements with an older swimmer for any additional required support. This is a liability issue and they can not make exceptions.
